What is a Vision Frame?

The Vision Frame is a collection of statements that expresses the DNA of our church. Every leader, ministry, and program in Red Hill begins and operates from a clear understanding of the Vision Frame. The Vision Frame includes an articulation of Red Hill’s unique mission, values, strategy, marks of a disciple, and the vision proper.

“The world can no longer be left to mere diplomats, politicians, and business leaders. They have done the best they could, no doubt. But this is an age for spiritual heroes- a time for men and women to be heroic in their faith and in spiritual character and power. The greatest danger to the Christian church today is that of pitching its message too low.”
— Dallas Willard, The Spirit of the Disciplines: Understanding How God Changes Lives

MISSIONAL MANDATE

The missional mandate is a clear and concise statement that defines what the church is ultimately  supposed to be doing. Mission as Missional Mandate answers question zero—“What is Red Hill supposed to be doing?” The mission is the compass and guiding North Star of the church. The mission expresses a direction and points everyone in that direction. The mission is timeless. It is the heartbeat of the organization. The mission is like a golden thread that weaves through every activity of the church.

VALUES

The Values are the shared convictions that guide the actions and reveal the strengths of the church. Values as Missional Motives answer the culture questions — “Why are we doing it? And what does it feel like to be part of Red Hill?” Values are pillars. They are springboards for daily action and filters for decision-making. Values represent the conscience of the church. They distinguish your organization’s philosophy of ministry and shape its culture and ethos.

STRATEGY

The Strategy articulates the process of how Red Hill will accomplish its mission on the broadest level. Strategy as Missional Map answers the next step question—“How are we making disciples? And what should I do next?” The strategy is like a container that holds all church activities into one meaningful whole. Without this framework, individuals within the organization will forget how each work component fits into the mission. The strategy helps to connect highly specific role descriptions and procedures to the mission and vision of the church.

MARKS OF A DISCIPLE

The Marks of a Disciple are the characteristics of an individual’s life that reflect the achievement of the mission. Missional Marks answers the question of effectiveness — “When are we successful? And what does it look like when someone grows as a disciple at Red Hill Church?” The Marks are the church’s portrait of a disciple and its definition of spiritual maturity. It provides the standard by which the mission can be measured with respect to an individual’s development through the ministry of the church.
